Get Involved with Brighton Dragon Boat Club
Whether you’re paddling or cheering from shore, it takes a team to keep our club moving forward. We’re always looking for passionate, community-minded people to help shape the club’s future on the water, behind the scenes, and at special events.
We’re Often Looking For:
Coaches
Our coaches lead practices, help paddlers improve their technique, and keep the crew motivated and focused. Great coaches are supportive, enthusiastic, and enjoy helping others grow; no previous experience required (we can train you!).
Steers
The steer (or steersperson) controls the direction of the dragon boat and works closely with the coach to lead the crew. It’s a great role for confident communicators who are calm under pressure. Training is available for those interested.
Join the Board
Want to have a voice in club decisions? Our volunteer board is made up of people just like you, paddlers, supporters, and community members. Here are some of the roles we may recruit for throughout the year:
President – Provides leadership and guidance for the club.
Vice President – Supports the President and steps in when needed.
Secretary – Keeps our records and meeting notes organized.
Head Coach Coordinator – Helps organize coaches and steers, assists with training when needed, and schedules coverage for paddling sessions (along with many other moving pieces).
Treasurer – Manages the club’s finances.
Registrar – Handles membership sign-ups and records.
Recruitment & Retention – Helps attract new members and supports efforts to keep current members engaged and connected to the club.
Media and Communications – Shares news, manages the website, and creates media content to assist members, coaches, steers and the board.
Assets & Clothing Manager – Keeps track of club equipment, helps organize orders, and assists with receiving new gear and club clothing.
Volunteer & Events Coordinator – Helps plan special events and organize volunteers.
(See our Board Members page for who’s currently in each role.)
